What is Direct Cremation?
Direct Cremation is a basic option for families who need to prioritise affordability and for those who do not require a meaningful farewell.
It involves a cremation without a traditional funeral service and is not attended by family or friends.
What’s included?
At the price of £1,345, we will:
- Collect your loved one: We'll collect your loved one from the hospital or coroner's mortuary during working hours.
- Prepare them for their final journey: We'll gently wrap your loved one in white cloth and place them in a simple wooden coffin.
- Transport them with care: We'll transport them to the crematorium in our company ambulance.
- Handle the arrangements: We'll handle the crematorium fees and arrangements.
Please understand that we'll select the crematorium, date, and time of the cremation and you will not be able to attend. We'll inform you of the cremation date, but not the specific time or location. Our team will take your loved one to the crematorium chapel, and the crematorium staff will handle the remaining arrangements.
You have the option to have the ashes scattered at the crematorium by their own staff in your absence, or you may collect them from us.
Other Charges:
- We understand that not everyone passes away in a hospital setting. Our team is available, day or night, 7 days a week, to collect your loved one from a private home, nursing home, or hospice with the utmost care and professionalism. We use a private ambulance to ensure a dignified transfer. This service incurs a fee of £250.
- In some cases, a larger coffin may be necessary. This requires additional staff and time for safe and respectful handling. All of this involves a little more expense. £300
- If your loved one had a pacemaker or other implant, our qualified mortuary technicians will remove it for a fee of £100.
- Ashes are returned in a simple plastic or cardboard container. For a more personalized option, we can transfer the ashes to an oak casket with an engraved nameplate for £95.
- If the distance to collect your loved one exceeds a round trip of 20 miles, an additional fee of £1.75 per mile will apply.
How to pay:
- You can pay by credit or debit card, bank transfer, or cash. We understand that funeral costs can be a burden, so we offer the option of multiple family members contributing to the payment.
- We ask for full payment within two working days of making the arrangements.
- Once all the necessary paperwork is completed and we have received your full payment, we will book a time and date at the crematorium.
Further Information:
- If you believe Direct Cremation may be the most suitable option, please let us know at the outset. This will help us avoid incurring unnecessary costs on your behalf.
- If you prefer to avoid meeting with a Funeral Director or visiting a funeral home, it is possible to arrange everything over the phone and by email. Some forms will require your signature, which can be done by post.
- Please understand that while your loved one will be treated with the utmost care and respect, you won’t be able to view them before the cremation or attend the crematorium
